Atocha Treasure Story Unisex Performance LS

The story of the Nuestra Señora de Atocha is one of the most legendary shipwreck stories in Florida history.

In 1622, the Spanish treasure galleon left Havana loaded with gold, silver, emeralds, and priceless cargo bound for Spain. A powerful hurricane struck near the Florida Keys, sinking the Atocha and sending its treasure to the ocean floor for more than 350 years.

In the 1960s, Mel Fisher dedicated his life to finding the lost ship near Key West. After years of searching, setbacks, and personal tragedy, Fisher and his crew finally discovered the main wreck site on July 20, 1985.

The discovery became one of the greatest treasure finds in history, recovering silver bars, gold artifacts, emeralds, cannons, and historic coins. Today, many of those treasures can still be seen at the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, keeping the legend of the Atocha alive.
